Coffee in Eureka Springs

Ahhhhh, the unmistakable aroma of freshly brewed coffee! Does that fragrance appeal to you? If you are one of those people that salivates from the scent of a steaming hot cup of joe then you should be one of the many that pays a visit to Eureka Springs every year.

The old timers down at the local cafe, solving all the world's problems over their daily morning ritual of coffee and politics. The tragically hip sipping cappuccinos and lattes or even iced mochas as they compare tattoos or their newest piercings to the still ever so cool, but grounded in the reality of life with a steaming press pot preparing for their day, or that serious coffee connoisseur with his shot of espresso, they all have one thing in common, that beautiful brown bean.

There are as many different ways to prepare and drink coffee as there are coffee drinkers themselves. Some have to have it just to start their day, others savor every single drop as if it's the nectar of the gods. Some like it hot, some like it cold. I don't think however you'll find anyone that likes it nine days old.

Where are you going to find all these different coffee people peacefully coexisting with their choice of brew? Eureka Springs of course! Why Eureka Springs? Because Eureka offers them all their own little corner of the world where they can get their brew, their way.

Java offerings include an award winning coffee house, another that takes their beans serious enough to roast their own, to a coffee shop located in a historic hotel.

Fresh scones or muffins, biscotti, breakfast, lunch, dinner, fresh made deserts, all are available to accompany your cup of coffee.

Prefer a little kick? several places offer coffee drinks stepped up a notch with alcohol. Nothing like an Irish coffee to end a perfect fall or winter day walking the streets, seeing the sites, and shopping the stores of Eureka Springs.

Drink it there enjoying the ambiance of the local architecture, viewing the works of Eureka's artists or just spending a day relaxing and reading. Take it with you to the Basin Park and while away the day people watching or even chatting with the locals. Eureka's residents are a friendly lot and are more than willing to tell you what it is about the area they call home.

Found that special bean that you wish you could take home with you? Not a problem. Buy the beans and take them home or have them ground and take that savory brown powder home ready for your coffee maker. Not only the coffee shops cater to this but Eureka Springs is home to culinary stores that carry specially coffees for purchase.

What? You don't like coffee? Not to worry, many places offer traditional and herbal teas. Teas however deserve a story all their own and we'll just have to cover that some other time as I just caught the first whiffs and heard that familiar gurgling sound that tells me it's about time for a fresh cup of joe.
